BRIGHTSTAR AND KODIAK NETWORKS TO SIGN GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT

Companies Launch Partnership for Sales and Distribution of Push to Talk-Enabled Devices with Kodiak Advanced Voice Services Applications to Wireless Network Operators

MIAMI, FL and SAN RAMON, CA – September 6, 2006 – Brightstar Corp., the largest wireless distribution and supply chain solutions company in the world, and Kodiak Networks, the leading provider of advanced wireless systems, announced today they have launched a partnership for the global distribution of Push to Talk (PTT)-enabled devices with Kodiak Advanced Voice Services (AVS) functionality.

Under the terms of the distribution agreement, Brightstar will procure original equipment manufacturer (OEM)  devices  for wireless operators that are PTT-capable and  include the suite of innovative Kodiak AVS applications including real-time availability, group conferencing, instant voice messaging and the ability to convert a PTT conversation to a full-duplex, cellular call .  This relationship will leverage the handset development partnerships that Kodiak has already established with leading handset OEMs, which includes the integration of the Kodiak AVS client, testing and technical .support to bring these devices to market. Brightstar and Kodiak will work directly with OEMs to develop handset product roadmaps and ensure that a rich choice of handsets with the Kodiak AVS client are offered to Kodiak’s existing and prospective operator customers.

According to R. Marcelo Claure, Brightstar’s president and CEO, “Partnering with Kodiak will leverage our global infrastructure and allow for increased distribution of PTT-enabled products with premium voice service capability, improved technical support and a diverse portfolio offering for our wireless operator customers spanning six continents.”

“We are fortunate to be working with the largest global handset distributor as our preferred partner for distributing PTT-enabled devices with the Kodiak handset client,” said Craig Farrill, president and CEO, Kodiak Networks. “This relationship should help remove a considerable obstacle for carriers who are looking to deploy innovative voice solutions but have not been able to access PTT-enabled devices because of the initial volumes that are required. Brightstar’s success in aggregating demand and distribution for these types of devices should be viewed as a tremendous win for wireless operators, handset manufacturers and end consumers.”
