Kodiak Networks Announces Mobile Industry's First Clientless Push-To-Talk (PTT) Offering
DALLAS, TX – April 17, 2008 – Mobile solutions innovator, Kodiak Networks announced today the wireless industry’s first clientless Push to Talk offering. The Kodiak Clientless Push to Talk™ application enables PTT subscribers to conduct PTT sessions with non-subscribers – creating an immediate base of contacts and groups for this instant style of communications. Until now, PTT calls could only be initiated to users that had PTT-enabled handsets with a PTT subscription. With the Kodiak Clientless PTT application, PTT subscribers can contact non-subscribers, by sending an invitation to join the call and instructions to press any key to begin speaking. By pressing and releasing any key, known as “getting and releasing the call floor,” recipients can use their wireless or landline phone, just like a PTT phone.
“The Kodiak Clientless PTT capability offers a huge opportunity for wireless operators who are trying to grow their PTT customer base and to end users who want to conduct PTT sessions with non-subscribers,” said Andrew M. Seybold, Andrew Seybold, Inc. “This clientless functionality opens up PTT opportunities with non-subscribers, including the ability to initiate PTT sessions with users on any network – such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint/Nextel.”
“We are very pleased to offer this clientless version of PTT to our CDMA carrier customers,” said Bruce Lawler, executive vice president, marketing and business development, Kodiak Networks. “With Kodiak Clientless Push to Talk, PTT subscribers can immediately build contact and group lists with friends, family and colleagues on any wireless network or landline phone.”
